Thank you to the many families in our school community who helped to support the Luke 4:18 initiative supporting our local chapter of St. Vincent de Paul.
The grade 6-8 students who make up the Luke 4:18 committee were excited about the overwhelming response. Many families sent in gift cards and monetary donations in support of local families in need. All donations were used in putting together Christmas hampers for families in the York Region.
The committee, under the leadership of Mrs. Capodagli, Ms. Magro, Mrs. Bryan, met daily to tabulate total donations and to create ornaments commemorating the generosity of our community. Ornaments with family names on them were hung on our St. Vincent de Paul Christmas tree, which stood in the front foyer for the duration of the fundraising event.
As a thank you, students organizing and running the campaign created and then distributed Reindeer Candy Cane treats for all participants.
Thanks again to the generosity of the families in our school community. Many families in our area will benefit from this showing of compassion and kindness. We were able to meet and exceed our fundraising goals for this initiative. Thank you for showing our Luke 4:18 committee that every action meant to demonstrate love is worth it!
